Nashville Day 3 - 06/09/2011

Yep - it's Cooter's Place!

We are heading out of Nashville today, but before we left, we wanted to stop by and stroll down memory lane with one of our favorite shows growing up - The Dukes of Hazzard.  Ben Jones, who played "Cooter" on The Dukes of Hazzard, has opened Cooter's Place.  This is a free museum filled with memorabilia from the hit TV show.  There is also another Cooter's Place located in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Bad Guys

Good Guys

It was really neat to sit and watch an episode (or two!) of the TV show, and to see all things "Dukes" - even everyone's favorite clothing - Daisy Dukes - were on display!  There were TV trays and lunchboxes, toys and trinkets, and everything else you can imagine.  They have four cars on display at the museum, but only Daisy's Jeep and Roscoe's patrol car were there today.  The General Lee and Boss Hog's car were downtown at a CMA display put on by the museum.

It looks like he's really playing it, doesn't it?

In the back of the museum was a tiny little Sun Records display, mostly with T-shirts to sell.  But they had this mural we thought was pretty neat, although we couldn't figure out how any of it related to the Dukes of Hazzard.

Willie Nelson has a souvenir shop next door to Cooter's Place.  We took more pictures than anything else.  It was a good time!

Jim and Wille, and Willie's friend Jose Cuervo

Yes, beware!

Why? Why does he always do that?

How fun! I love the Dukes of Hazzard! Years and years ago (I was a little girl), my grandparents went to Cooter's museum (I think it may have been Pigeon Forge though) and Cooter (Ben Jones) was there! He autographed photos for them to bring home to us. I wish I knew what happened to those!

Looks like you guys are having a blast! Can't wait to read more!

(Oh - I finally fixed the glitch on my end and I can comment here now! Yay!
